Today’s Task
Event: I decided to formulate and enhance the sensory attributes of an energy drink.
How I felt it (initially before executing the actual task):I was thrilled to develop an innovative product.
Actual Task: Formulation of an energy drink with natural extracts.
The formulation was based on the client’s requirement: an energy drink with natural extracts and mixed fruit flavour. The trial was carried out to match the active compounds required for an energy drink without affecting the taste and flavour of the final product. Since all-natural extracts have been utilised, such as guarana and green tea, the product is bound to have some herbal taste. The product was well–optimised to conceal the herbal taste with fruit flavours. The product was later assessed for its shelf life.

The sensory analysis was better than accepted; the flavour, colour and taste were within acceptable limits.
The colour could be improved with some natural colouring agents to make it more attractive, rather than the pale yellow colour.
