Oddbox Launches Food Waste-Fighting Cooking Pastes, Now Available at Ocado
Rescuing produce and pioneering, the Oddbox packing brand has, with the launch of its inaugural-ever cooking pastes, extended its mission against food wastage. The pastes, fresh from rescued tomatoes that were destined for waste, provide an appetizing way for home cooks to quickly prepare flavour-filled dishes and help save the planet, sustainably so.
Cooking Sustainably Made Simple
Oddbox Cooking Pastes come in two astounding flavours:
Balti- A spiced-intense base influenced by traditional Indian curry.
Thai Red Curry- A sweet and spicy paste for quintessential Thai dishes.
Available exclusively at Ocado from 30 October 2024.
Promotional Price: £2.39 (20% discount for the introductory four weeks).
Deepak Ravindran, Co-founder, Oddbox explains the innovation for the launch:
“Our growers often have more tomatoes than we can fit into our boxes, so we had to think of a creative way to prevent them from going to waste. These delicious new pastes make it easy for consumers to fight food waste in their own kitchens, while enjoying real, natural ingredients.”
What Sets Oddbox Cooking Pastes Apart?
Rescued Tomato Paste- Using perfectly good tomatoes that were rejected for being “too small”, “too odd” or “not the right colour”.
All-Natural Ingredients- Containing more than 13 vegetables and spices and no artificial additives or preservatives.
No Cooking Needed- Use in sauces, dips, dressings, or marinade from the packet.
Not Frozen-Fresh tomatoes and onions are used, unlike most pastes, leading to a stronger and more rounded taste.
For Low-Waste Creative Cooking- An easy three-step recipe is attached with each package, designed to give flexibility based on whatever else is in the fridge.
A Natural Progression of Oddbox’s Mission for Further Wastes Reduction.
For the past six years, Oddbox has rescued more than 49,000 tonnes of fruit and vegetables from over 110 UK growers to reduce waste all through the supply chain. With these cooking pastes, they are giving people a delicious and healthy new way to join the battle against food waste in their home kitchens.
An Ocado spokesperson shared their eagerness about the association: “Sustainability inspired brands like Oddbox tackling the problems of food waste in the very interesting and very creative way. We are absolutely thrilled to be the select retailer for these innovative cooking pastes, and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for Oddbox.”
