Reason for Recall – Potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination
Health Risks – This recall is due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, a harmful bacterium that can cause serious health issues. For young children, the elderly and immunocompromised individuals, it may lead to severe infections, including fatal cases. Healthy individuals may experience temporary symptoms like high fever, headache, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, while Listeria poses risks of miscarriage and stillbirth in pregnant women.
Regulatory Actions – The recall is conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), assuring consumer safety. Give and Go Prepared Foods (U.S.A.) Corp. has acted swiftly, following its environmental monitoring program to detect potential risks, though no illnesses have been reported. This recall is a preventive step to protect public health.
