Definition of Nutritional Analysis

A food’s nutritional breakdown, or nutrition analysis, shows the actual nutrient values that are used to label nutrition facts. These values include calories, total fat, saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, sodium, total carbohydrate, dietary fiber, sugars, protein, calcium, iron, and vitamins A, C, and D. Nutritional analysis can be based on laboratory analysis, database analysis, which comes from the formulation and processing techniques of the recipe, or a mix of the two. Database analysis is less expensive and provides more nutrients that aren’t needed for nutrition information labeling but nevertheless improve the product’s overall nutritional qualities. We will advise you on the most effective method or methods for your specific product in order to ensure accurate nutritional analysis and nutrition facts labeling for your products.

The Nutrition Facts label cannot be created without a Nutritional Analysis. The amount of nutrients in the product is included in the nutritional analysis, also known as raw nutritional values, which is usually based on 100 grams. The information on the Nutrition Facts Label is taken from the Nutrition Analysis and converted based on serving size; furthermore, it needs to be computed in compliance with FDA standards. 1
