Event: Today, I had a plan to work on the formulation of Nootropic energy drink

How I felt it (initially before executing the actual task): I always love to handle any project that comes with product formulation with innovation.

What did I learn?

Nootropics, called “cognitive enhancers” or “smart drugs”, are a part of nutraceutical components. They are mostly used as supplements for cognitive enhancement. In this project, we tried formulating a carbonated beverage with nootropic ingredients. Things to keep in mind while formulating a nootropic beverage is that all ingredients labelled a nootropic must be approved by FSSAI and should be used in the appropriate

dosage levels. Nootropic beverages are a new age drink with functional properties such as attention and memory. After procuring all the ingredients, the carbonated beverage is formulated with nootropic ingredients with no added sugar and no preservatives. Once the formulation is done, the product is kept for shelf-life study.

Outcome: A ready to drink nootropic drink with no added sugar or preservatives was formulated at the Food Research Lab.

What went well? I have done the lab trials, and the product has come out well. However, we would like to do further trials to study more about improving the stability of the product.

What Could I have done better? I should have carried out a better formulation as a next step with improvement in the shelf life of the product.
