Health Drink For Children

One of our clients consulted us to decide which type of product to launch in the market. They wanted to tap the market that was specifically for children and their health. Food Research Lab’s market research analyst suggested that they proceed with a children’s health drink product.

By 2022, the global beverage market is estimated to be worth more than $1 trillion. Children eat a large portion of the products in this category. According to data, 94 per cent of six to eleven-year-olds in the United States drink juice. Fruit juices and smoothies are consumed by eight out of ten children in the United Kingdom.

In the children’s beverage sector, we noticed a lot of new food product developments do not cater to their specific nutritional needs. Only 5% of new water launches, 6% of juice drinks, and 6% of other beverages were targeted at children in the last five years. However, only 17% of new breakfast cereal introductions were aimed at children during the same period.

This showed us that there was a vast untapped market in the children’s health drink segment. So our food formulation scientists came up with an idea to develop a healthy beverage product exclusively for children between the ages 4 to 14.

Protein and iron are essential for young children’s growth and development. Protein and iron are abundant in beans, pulses and pulse-based foods (such as tofu, hummus, and soya mince). So we made sure we included all the natural ingredients necessary for children’s growth. We made the product in granular form and crystallised form to act as a breakfast cereal and a powder that parents can give their children by adding to milk hot or cold.
